This has nothing directly to do with my hit parade except that good singers don’t use AutoTune. Today I heard something so ridiculous that my beard grew inwards by a few centimetres. Dark Metal Cat laughed so hard that he vomited on my desk.
Get this… “What’s wrong with AutoTune? Why shouldn’t singers use electronics to make their voices sound in tune? Your bands use electricity to make their guitars sound loud.”
If you don’t happen to know what AutoTune is, the Mammal Dictionary defines it as “something that makes you vomit on your desk.”
If I had to answer those questions, it wouldn’t be beyond the bounds of probability that I was in my office listening to one of these bands. Of course it’s just as probable I was playing “Baldur’s Gate” and reloading because I got killed so often.
One day when I’m old and grey—.
Start again. When I’m even older and greyer or hairless, I’ll still be listening to all of these albums pretty often. I work alone in an office at home. I play music while I pretend to be busy. Often I get through ten albums a day. Without music, I’d go mad. My wife says that without metal, I might become sane, but she also says she’s used to my music making the panels on my desk vibrate. She’s lucky she can’t see what it’s doing to my insides.
May 2014 bring all of you great wealth, health, happiness and gut-thumping good metal. Read the rest of this entry →

While no one can match Rainbow’s musical masterpiece “Stargazer”, Faroese metal band Týr come pretty damn close. As with almost all of the covers you will find on this list, the covering band makes sure to inject their own sound and personality into the song and attempt to make it their own while still respecting the source material. Such is the case with “Stargazer”. Mixed with the very recognizable Týr guitar tone and vocal style I can picture Mr. Dio smiling in his grave each time this tune is played.
While the original still sounds amazing today and more than holds up, it is also really cool hearing this tune with a fresh coat of paint. And the heathenistic style of Týr shine a light in a different angle at it. Anywho, check it out and enjoy!! Peace Love and Metal!!!

A while ago on my personal blog(which I really haven’t been giving much attention to lately, poor thing) I started doing this weekly post where I chose some kind of theme and posted a bunch of music videos pertaining to that theme. It was fun to do as I enjoy music videos and making lists of things, but then I migrated myself over to this here blog and got a little lazy and the short lived Music Video Mania got neglected. Well, I am going to try to right the wrong and bring the series back, not on a weekly basis again but on a when ever I feel up to it basis(a couple times a month about) here on A Metal State of Mind. For today’s episode I will ctrl-c/ctrl-v one of my older posts and will send over some of my better episodes here and there as well as new ones popping up also, so if some of the things I say in the post seem a bit dated it’s because I’m lazy and didn’t go back and update things that I wrote. Hope you all enjoy and if you have any suggestions on themes or videos to recommend, let me know. Without any further ado, here Music Video Mania: Worldwide Metal!!!!! Peace Love and Metal!!!!
