Mammal’s 21-Year Hit Parade: 2008, #12 – #9

MetalCatToday I had a migraine for the first time in years. Some people think migraines are headaches. They’re not. Splitting headaches are one of the side-effects of a migraine, which is dilation of the capillaries in the eyeballs for any number of reasons. Anything that constricts blood vessels is good when you have a migraine, especially plenty of coffee and nicotine, heh heh.

After I’d slept off the worst of the migraine I started doing my hit parade post for today. My wife asked why I was listening to loud metal music while I still had a headache. I gave her the obvious answer: Metal has curative powers. I know it makes me feel better.

Mammal’s 21-Year Hit Parade: 2006 / #3 – #1

Song Of The Week: Shade Empire – Ruins

Shade Empire is a band that I just recently discovered. They are from Finland and play symphonic black metal mixed with industrial/melodic death-influences. Their new, upcoming album sounds very promising based on the two singles they have released so far and I wanted to share one of them with you today. This song reminds me a bit of Dimmu Borgir’s style of music, although much more varied and dynamic.

The album ‘Omega Arcane’  is planned to be released in May.
