Video of the Week – Ideate (stop spamming this post)

The other day I got my copy of Soen‘s debut album Cognitive in the mail, and what can I say, it’s awesome.  In case you don’t know, Soen features Martin Lopez, the ex-drummer of Opeth and Amon Amarth, and Steve DiGiorgio, amazing bassist for hire and previously of Testament.  After I have absorbed it some more I’ll post a full-fledged review, but I can tell you now that it is well worth picking up, especially if you enjoy Tool/A Perfect Circle and Opeth.

Here’s a cool video of them doing an acoustic rendition of the song “Ideate” off of Cognitive.  This track works great as an acoustic song and has a different feel to it then the album version.  I’ll also post the official video for the song “Savia” again, which if you haven’t seen or heard yet is a great song and a visually appealing clip.  Enjoy!! Peace Love and Metal!!!

P.S. If the “Ideate” Vimeo embedding code is giving me a headache, so you can click on the link below to check out the video, sorry 😉

Do You Like Tool/A Perfect Circle and Opeth?

If you find yourself digging on bands like Tool and A Perfect Circle you need to know about Soen.  Check out the video below for “Savia” from their debut album Cognitive.  There is a heavy Maynard James Keenan influence in the music, almost to the point of a rip off, but damn, it’s awesome.  It’s not like we’re going to hear anything new from Tool for a while (I do hope I’m wrong about that one).  Oh, and this is the new home of ex-Opeth drummer Martin Lopez and bassis Steve DiGiorgio of Testament/Death.  Expect a review of the album as soon as I get my hands on it which should be very soon.

Cognitive is going to be released Feb. 13, 2012 in Europe and is set to hit the States Feb. 21, 2012.
