My 2002 kicks off with folk black, heavy and melodic power metal.

Mammal’s 21-Year Hit Parade: 2000 / #15 – #13


MetalCatI’m celebrating the last year of the 20th century by choosing 15 songs, not the usual ten, for 2000. That was the year I turned 50. It feels like 14 years ago.

Dark Metal Cat hadn’t been born yet. He maintains he has always existed, if not physically, then in the deepest recess of inaccessible places. He sounds like Electric Wizard.

Mammal’s 21-Year Hit Parade: 1998 / #12 – #10


MetalCatThis morning there was a magnitude 5.3 earth tremor in South Africa. It was felt across most of the country, which meant it shook things up as far as a thousand kilometres away.

Strangely, Black Metal Cat was playing his music at just about that exact moment. His new amp arrived on an Abnormal Load truck.

Mammal’s 21-Year Hit Parade: 1998 / #15 – #13


MetalCatI could have used up the remaining 12% of my working brain and cut the list for 1998 to ten songs. The trouble is that many favourite songs change places quite often on anyone’s list, and I didn’t want to leave any of these out.

Dark Metal Cat says I lack self-discipline. I retort that he lacks opposable thumbs.
