Video of the Week – In Memoriam

Evile has released another new video in the last couple weeks for their song In Memoriam from their album Five Serpent’s Teeth.  This time, the Thrashers tone things down a bit with a somber metal song, powerful to say the least.  For those of us living in or near London, Evile will be playing a FREE show on 3rd July in London at The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch.  There is more information at this link.

Other than that, I am keeping it short this week’s video.  If you can’t catch Evile at the free show, you can catch them on a headlining tour in October throughout the UK.  Have a great weekend.

Reggie’s (Plantera7’s) Top 15 Albums of 2011

To me, 2011 was a great year for metal. September, in particular, was a busy month and full of quality releases. The following list is my personal Top 15 for the year with a brief explanation for each. I hope you had a great 2011. I look forward to another year of concerts, awesome metal albums, and more importantly chatting with you about everything metal!

If you are surpised to see that a particular band you like didn’t make my list, it might just be that I didn’t get a chance to listen to that album, such as Moonsorrow for example.  I just never got it, but I see it on many blogger’s lists.  I wish I had all the time in the world to sample new stuff, but taking into consideration where I am now compared to about 4 years ago…my horizons have been seriously broadened and I owe that to fellow bloggers (especially Matt) and readers who post about the bands they like.  Thank you for tuning in this year.  We look forward to a new and exciting 2012 in metal!

Evile – Five Serpent’s Teeth – Album Review

If you can manage to lay aside Machine Head for a minute you might want to check out the new Evile album, Five Serpent’s Teeth.  British thrashers have released their 3rd studio album in just about 4-years.  Their first, Enter the Grave released in 2008, followed by Infected Nations in 2009.

New Evile song “Cult” Live at Download Festival 2011

If you want to check out new material from the UK’s Evile check out their new song Cult played live at Download Festival 2011.  Their new album Five Serpent’s Teeth is slated for release this September along with many other metal releases.  Enjoy!

New Evile Release in September

In addition to the September slaughter, lesser known British thrashers Evile will be adding to the pain of depleting your hard-earned cash.  Five Serpent’s Teeth is scheduled for release on September 26th, according to Evile’s website.  The album was produced by Russ Russell who produced Evile’s first album Enter The Grave which is pretty bad ass.  You might remember a recent post for a video called “Thrashers” which came from that album.

Based on the first track Eternal Empire, which can be heard from YouTube below, it sounds like vocalist Matt Drake seems to have discovered this thing called a voice.  I can see some fans being turned off by this.  As far as the music goes it sounds like straight up thrash to me although I can tell that Evile is getting more mature and with their musical style. I like the speed-metal parts of this song.

For those of us in England, Evile is offering up a unique contest.  Check this link for details.  In short, if you guess that answer to the question (see YouTube video) correctly you could win one of only 15 pairs of tickets to see Evile play the new album live at Gibson guitar studio in London.  I submitted for it even though I will be out of country. I guess if I win I will have to give up my tickets to someone else.  Hint, the answer is on the link above.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I am saving up for September.
