Mammal’s 21-Year Hit Parade: 2008, #4 – #1

MetalCatDark Metal Cat has issued an advisory that this series has come under the scrutiny of the NSA because today’s episode includes no American bands. American metalheads may laugh at this allegation. Yeah? How did the NSA know what I was going to select before I did?

So today we have Amon Amarth, Sieges Even, Opeth and To-Mera. Dark Metal Cat has issued an advisory that the NSA has listed all of those band names as code words for secret meeting places where “strange people” in the USA listen to European bands.

Mammal’s 21-Year Hit Parade: 2008, #8 – #5

MetalCatIf you haven’t yet mastered the art of throat singing, you may pick up some tips from Ego Fall.

That reminds me of some lyrics I wrote but which, amazingly, haven’t been snapped up by any band:

MetalCatToday we have brown, red and black music. That’s not the colour of the musical notes but the colours used on the artwork of the albums from which this selection is taken.

Isn’t that a marvellous coincidence? Those colours match the brown of my teeth, the red of my eyeballs and the black of my blood. They also match Dark Metal Cat’s coat when he stands in bright sunlight with harsh shadows.

Mammal’s 21-Year Hit Parade: 2008, #20 – #17

MetalCatMost of you were too young to listen to metal before this year. You were still doing “The Wheels on the Bus” and “Humpty Dumpty”. To help you catch up on some of the great music of the most recent years, I’ll be posting 20 songs per year from 2008 and after, not 15 or 10 songs. That’s four songs per day for a year per week excluding weekends.

If you’re still too young to listen to metal, see my parallel series, “Mammal’s Thousand Years Of Nursery Rhymes”.
