Albums that could be metal or prog, or both
Thus concludeth my selection of albums that couldeth be either prog rock or prog metal, as the mantis said unto the moth before eatething it. Muncheth, muncheth, went the mantis. “Ow! Verily, friggin’ oweth!” wailed the moth.
This is the first time I’ve started a music post with a biology lesson.

The body parts of classical, jazz, prog and metal fans were stitched together to build a creature, mostly mammalian, that embarked on a quest to show metallic commonality in different musical genres. I call these albums In-Betweeners because to me they are not strictly prog, metal or hard rock, they draw from all of those and other genres. Genre labels continue to become blurred. Hurrah for that! Read the rest of this entry →
You’ll know some or maybe all of these bands, depending on whether you like prog metal, hard rock, prog rock or all of them. I’ll include the most frequently listed genre label for each album, but this is music I think of as In Between. To me, it’s crossover music bridging the gap between metal, prog and other genres.
