There is a lot to be said about a band that can take those old Big Four influences and turn them into melodic, refreshing, and thrashy elements fitting for the 21st Century.  Chainfist has a lot in common with bands like Trivium and Bullet For My valentine with their catchy hooks and melodic choruses.  The (mostly) clean vocals are polished and the album’s production quality is first-rate.  For the guitar lover out there, Scarred is a from-start-to-finish riff-tastic experience complete with headbanging melodies and cool solos.

It’s hard to find anything wrong with the album, though it is very consistent except for the acoustic version of Black Rebel Noise which closes out the album nicely.  Besides the lack of much diversity, it is a strong collection of thrashy, but not too thrashy songs that should appeal to quite a large audience of both casual metal listeners and also old (Big Four era) folks like me hanging on to the thrash vibe till death do is part.  Overall, Scarred is a tight well-produced album worth your time…if anything I just said here sounds interesting to your preferred metal taste buds.

Unfortunately just a teaser for a video, but you get a clip of what the album offers.
