WarpRider – Their raw aggression could use a good production engineer, but setting sound quality aside (it could just be me anyway), the sheer aggression makes the album worth listening to. It’s a relatively straightforward album with some really cool crowd-pleasing rhythms. I can imagine The Witch will get a lot of crowd participation at their shows. The songs seem built for the pit and there is nothing wrong with that. 3.5

Irmelinis – Here’s an interesting release. It can be described as stoner-thrash, the extreme edition with black metal speed. Now also with sound clips from famous movies! Diverse and melodic, complex and entertaining with dark riffs and fun details everywhere. It’s never boring, it feels honest and original. The only complaint I have is that the guitars often take over; they are too much in the front of the mix for my taste and drown out the vocals. When they release a full length, I will definitely check it out. 3.0

ChristopherMammal – More guys who don’t fit any particular genre. If you asked them what genre they play, they’d probably answer: “Music, my good fellow,” but in a more French way. This is terrific stuff. It’s a music fest from start to end, always lively, sometimes ball-busting, sometimes very lyrical, never dull. On the last track they even make a guitar sound like a chicken, then a meowing cat. This is make-me-smile music, which is good for the circulation and the hair follicles, I think. 3.8

A Metal State of Mind Score – 3.4 out of 5

About ChristopherMammal

I've made it to Mammal. I still hope to be classified as Human one day. Meanwhile I have evolved enough to recognise different types of music as well as the shrieks of certain vervet monkeys who are known for their scurrilous behaviour in the proximity of unguarded bananas.
