Mammal’s Merry Memories: Atomic Rooster – Death Walks Behind You

The rest of the Metal State team is still gallivanting. I think they’ve all gone to a ’70s disco club. That leaves me to play around with the heaps of old vinyl albums in the store room.

Atomic Rooster, a British band, were at their best between 1969 and 1975. They split up, then re-formed in 1980 but didn’t grab fans they way they used to before the birth of heavy metal.

This song, the title track from a great 1970 album, is about as heavy as any music was in the 1960s. It’s psychedelic heavy prog.

About ChristopherMammal

I've made it to Mammal. I still hope to be classified as Human one day. Meanwhile I have evolved enough to recognise different types of music as well as the shrieks of certain vervet monkeys who are known for their scurrilous behaviour in the proximity of unguarded bananas.
