Mammal’s Merry Memories: ZZ Top – La Grange

While the other Metal State writers are out playing their various weekend sports — mixed martial arts, competitive falling off high things, pin the tail on the psychopath, that sort of thing — they make me clean the Metal State offices. I’ve just finished dusting a mountain of ancient classic rock vinyl. Since the others aren’t here, I’m going to post a classic rock song or something else ancient every Saturday and Sunday except for the Saturdays and Sundays when I won’t.

I remember this song being played at my retirement party in 1973. They gave me the album, Tres Hombres, and a new set of dentures. ZZ Top were one of the really great Southern rock bands. They helped to inspire stoner rock and metal. “La Grange” is my favourite ZZ Top song. I hope the album isn’t scratched. Here goes…
