WarpRider – Now, that’s a djenty flavor I can handle and enjoy.  The melody keeps my foot-tapping and having some guest artists gives a couple of the songs a cool boost.  The EP is short, but boasts a good well-rounded selection of songs.  I would definitely buy a full-length album if it comes to that.  4.0

Atleastimhousebroken– Now this is some djent I can get behind. Mechanical and percussive riffing, catchy vocal hooks, mathematical drumming, and great groove. I like the twists and turns in the songs and that slight pop feel. Definitely some djent one could dance to. If you are a fan of the djenting, you should enjoy Dzyen. 3.0

Irmelinis – Dzyen (pronounced “zen”) creates high energy music full of rich textures and entertaining, aggressive grooves. Great compositions, just the right amount of catchiness and diversity both vocally and instrumentally all throughout the songs. Brilliantly done. On ‘Digital Senseless’ guest vocalists Daniel Tompkins (Skyharbor) and Gino Bambino (Novello) do a wonderful job of adding some contrast to the heavy, technical music. ‘Neurosis’ is very energetic with its infectious guitar work and sing-along-friendly chorus; lots of fun to listen to! The fourth track is a cover of American Head Charge’s ‘Just So You Know’ and after hearing the last song ‘ Dualism Part 1’ I really can’t wait to hear part 2 and a full length album! A very promising new band worth checking out. 4.5

ChristopherMammal – I’d like to see this band on stage. Their musical skills are exceptional, their compositions are unpredictable and greatly varied, and the vocals are super. I’d love to absorb the dynamics of this outfit in a live performance. The interplay and understanding among the band members is tangible even on this studio mini-album. One song in particular, “Dualism – Part 1”, would be a stand-out on many albums of this type of technical prog metal. 4.2

A Metal State of Mind Score – 3.9 out of 5
