WarpRider – Likeable hard rock music with melody and a flair for an occasional hard edge. Nothing really stands out, but they do have the ability for constructing melodic harmonies; it’s a good album that focuses on strong, clean vocals. 3.0

Atleastimhousebroken – Interesting enough song structures and performances to keep my interest for the whole song but nothing really grabbed me by the balls and sucked me into the music.  I had flashbacks of the late 90s/early 00s era alt. rock and MTV’s ‘Buzz Videos’ and 120 Minutes program.  Competent, just not my bag. 2.75

Irmelinis – This is a great melodic prog/alternative rock EP with dynamic, atmospheric songs and a very smooth sound. Fantastic vocals, delicate guitar work and beautiful, uplifting music. This goes on my to-buy-list immediately. For fans of Karnivool, Rishloo, A Perfect Circle, Riverside.  – 4.0

ChristopherMammal – Tags! This quality debut EP launches as alternative rock. It’s more than that. It could just as comfortably be tagged as atmospheric prog metal or melancholy prog. It deserves a wider reach. The band uses classy compositions, sensitive instrumentation and a vocalist, Rhys Taylor, with one of the best voices and control I’ve heard in a while. The EP hits all the right spots in this mammal’s auditory system. 4.5

A Metal State of Mind Score – 3.6 out of 5
