WarpRider – It’s hard to nail down their style.  One moment they have a Ramones vibe (Hang You Out To Dry) and then more like Black Crowes (Sunny Day).  Their diversity will be key to their success.  Crucified is a good EP that displays a capability to write/record without sticking to any set parameters.  I Don’t Want To Be With You is a cool acoustic song; reminds me a bit of an 80s power ballad. 2.5

Atleastimhousebroken – Alt. Metal ain’t really my bag and Love/Hate are doing nothing to change pique my interest in the genre.  Fans of the genre may dig it, but IMO that’s it.  Kind of a Purple-era STP thing going on. 1.5

Irmelinis – Fun music that is easy to like and gives a feeling of 80’s and early 90’s hard rock. Except when ‘Love Is All’ starts, it makes me wonder if just put on an old Beatles record by mistake! This is a great EP with high quality music that makes me feel a bit (okay, more than just a bit) nostalgic. They’ve done everything according to “The Manual of Classic Rock” but it never feels unoriginal or boring. I would definitely buy a whole album of this. – 4.0

ChristopherMammal – Fans of Love/Hate may hate me more than love me for saying this is, well, OK. It just doesn’t stand up to the great hard rock bands of the ’80s or now. Fans may also dislike being reminded that Jon E Love, founder/guitarist of Love/Hate, has threatened to sue vocalist Jizzy Pearl for allowing Crucified to be recorded as a Love/Hate album without involvement from any other original member. Maybe the tension shows in this album, which is generally a little shaky. 2.5

A Metal State of Mind Score – 2.6 out of 5

*We have been informed their name changed to Kizzy Pearl after this review was posted.  It has been updated to reflect the old and new name.

  1. This certainly does not bode well for the new Quiet Riot in 2014.
