What’s Cookin’ In The Inbox (8 Nov 2013)

mailbox15It’s time for another edition of What’s Cookin’ in the Inbox.  It’s been far too long and our inbox is (was) getting a lot of attention over the last couple of months, so thank you to all those that sent us clips and videos of your bands.  As much as we’d love to review absolutely everything sent to us, it is just not possible, so we figure doing these short inbox bombardments help us spread the word about new music on the horizon or even something that’s not so new that requires your attention.  Check out this set of bands I think you will find eclectic enough as a grouping that something should fancy your undivided attention.

White Empress

White Empress is aggressive and boasts female vocals that aren’t pretty, but then again it depends who you are talking to.  Gritty is pretty to many people….including me.  What we have here is a demo version of a track called Erased and Rewritten.  Like most demos, I am sure it will be cleaned up and prepped for future release which, for now, is listed as “very soon.”

The Seven Deadly Sinphonies is the name of Sinnergod’s album that is out now!  The Thirst is their first video from the Manchester, UK band with the cool riff-driven rhythm.  They signed with Yellowdog records and have spent the better part of summer 2013 touring in support of their new album.

The new EP, Liquid Breathing was released in late Oct 2013.  The Italian quintet concocts a djenty dose of metal combined with some power metal and other heavy elements that make for a nice mixture of tempos.  Check out their Liquid Breath lyric video below to hear it for yourself.

Sirens & Sailors

This is another one that bleeds a deadly dose of djenty metalcore emanations.  Straightjacket is the new song off the recently released Skeletons album.  The New York-based band is beginning a fairly lengthy U.S. tour during the first half of November.  Check it out.

Lords of the Trident

Cool, creative, low-budget video…let’s just get that out-of-the-way now.  This may very well be the first band I ever heard of out of Madison, Wisconsin so, congrats to the band for getting that city on the map.  Complete Control comes from their EP, Plan of Attack.  I dig it.  It is out now!

Around 19 Nov (26 Nov in the US), Code’s album Augur Nox will be released to the masses.  They are from the UK and are considered Avante Garde and progressive depending on who you hear it from.  It is difficult to describe, so you will have to check them out for yourself.   For those that follow the band, the forthcoming album is the first with the new lineup.  Check out White Tryptych.

  1. Wow, I need to check out more Lords of the Trident. What a blast! They’re right up my alley. Thanks for the intro.

    • Cool, I am glad you found something you like. It sort of validates these little posts, so thank you for checking it out.
