Mik’s Top 100 Favourite Albums of All Time #91-95

A while ago, at the same time as Matt and Reggie, I posted my Top 100 All Time Favourite (Metal) Albums over at the forum The History of Metal on FB. It took a good amount of time and effort to put it together, but it was so much fun! My taste in metal is always changing, so the list will not always look the same. In fact, it’s already a bit different than it was when I first put it together and posted it on the forum seven months ago.

I tried to limit myself to three albums per band to make the list a little more diverse and interesting. I don’t really consider the ‘test of time’-factor when selecting what albums that will go on my list, instead I measure it by how strongly the album has affected me emotionally and how much/often it has helped me through both good and bad phases in my life. That’s why you can find quite a few newer releases among my favourites too.

#95 Helloween – Keeper Of The Seven Keys pt 2

Yes it’s cheesy, it’s old and it’s so much fun to listen to! Many years ago I received a mixed tape from a friend with this song on it, and I was surprised at how much the singer sounded like Toby Sammet from Edguy (my favorite band back then) so I had to get this cd. The Keeper of The Seven Keys-albums are the only Helloween cds I’ve cared enough for to really spend time on, listening to them always puts me in a good mood, it doesn’t have a bad song on it.

#94 Children of Bodom – Hate Crew Deathroll

The speed, the keyboard melodies, the guitars, the anger… This album has cheered me up so many times!  Great exercising music. Favourite songs: Needled 24/7 and Sixpounder.

#93 Ceremonial Embrace – Oblivion

Unfortunately this band only released one full length before they split up and not many people know about them. Great atmospheric black metal from Finland with lots of keyboard melodies and powerful drums.

#92 Type O Negative – October Rust

Sexy music.. My first Type O Negative experience, and still the best one. Peter Steele’s voice is the perfect instrument in these songs, especially the slower ones.

#91 Lacuna Coil – Unleashed Memories

Their first two albums + their two EP’s meant alot to me when I was younger and will always be among my favorites. It was something in their sound that caught me, the dark, flowing, atmospheric songs and a singer, Christina, that sounds like no other. I wish they’d make more songs in their own language. Like in this one, it’s so beautiful

About Irmelinis

A friend told me that I was delusional. I almost fell off my unicorn.
