Monday Metal Madness – The Battle For Supremacy

We are going to try something new at A Metal State of Mind…a video battle.  If you guys and gals want to “play along” this is something we were thinking of posting weekly.  Check it out!

For this week, I decided to choose similar style bands that both have new videos and also new albums.  I decided to call it The Battle for Supremacy since both bands are basically at the edge of something bigger than themselves, but can’t quite seem to “get there.”  Maybe Trivium has a slight edge, but they are basically in the same ballpark.  The videos are Trivium’s Built to Fall and Chimaira’s Year of the Snake. If you want to play, all you have to do is watch and vote.  In the next installment of Monday Metal Madness, we will announce the winner and set up a new poll and then keep it going.

Chimaira – Year of the Snake

Trivium – Built to Fall

About Reggie

Just a dude writing a heavy metal blog and always on the prowl for a cool metal show. I am also a family man...first and foremost!

  1. Both are pretty cool videos. The Trivium one has some great production quality and I dig the idea of having the continuing story. However Chimaira has tons of slo-mo, and slo-mo is always awesome and they did a great job of making the effect not look cheap.
Song-wise Chimaira take the slight edge over Trivium. I like the Trivium tune well enough, but that Chimaira just has more energy too it, get me pumped.

  2. Dan M McGarry Jr

Fantastic idea man. I really hope people respond well to it. In this particular case I don’t like either one but I dig the overall idea. \m/

    • There is definitely an endless possibility of video match ups with these polls. It seems like it is getting some good response and I think it’s worth seeing where this goes. Thank you for checking it out. Do you have a particular genre or type of video you want to see a battle for?

  3. Chimaira by a mile. Better vid and much better song – kinda a bit Pantera-esque to my ears \m/

  4. I especially like the slow motion parts as “atleastimhousebroken” mentioned above. I like the bending and shaping of the symbols and drums. I like how they captured that on film. The video kind of makes me want to throw a chair or something.

I like the idea Trivium has for their videos off this album. I think they should have chose a different song for their next video. I would have liked to see Watch the World Burn or Black become a video.
