Song of the Day, 14 March 2011, Helldorado
Another Monday is upon us, which means the weekend is long gone. Sometimes I wish there were 8 days in a week, so Monday would come around less frequently. Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well.
Today’s SOTD is “Helldorado” by W.A.S.P., from their album Helldorado.
I must admit, this is the only W.A.S.P. album I own. I purchased it on a whim many years ago, before the internet made browsing for music simple. It is hard to define what kind of music this song is. It is heavy, of course, but the guitar sound makes me want to call this “Rockabilly Metal.” Nevertheless, Blackie Lawless’s voice is one of the most recognizable in the business. I like this song because it is unlike any other I have in my collection. I appreciate unique music. Don’t get me wrong, the music has to be good, not just unique. I wouldn’t listen to a gorilla banging two trash can lids in a wind tunnel just because it is unique. There is a fine line to unique and awful (as in unique for a reason).
On a side note, my thoughts go out to the people of Japan in their time of crisis. I wish I could do something to help. It is hard to see the news and know that people are suffering. If you have friends or family in Japan, I hope they are doing well.
Have a good day, everyone.
